Description
Meethi Neem (Murraya koenigii), commonly known as Curry Leaf Plant or Kari Patta, is a small tropical to subtropical tree native to India and Southeast Asia. It is widely known for its aromatic leaves, which are a staple in Indian cuisine, especially in dishes from South India. The shiny, green, pointed leaves are often used fresh in cooking to impart a distinctive flavor to curries, soups, and chutneys.
This plant is relatively easy to grow, thriving in well-drained soil with plenty of sunlight, although it can tolerate partial shade. Meethi Neem is drought-tolerant once established and grows well in pots or directly in the ground. In addition to its culinary uses, the plant has medicinal properties and is used in traditional medicine to aid digestion, reduce cholesterol, and improve hair health.
Regular pruning is recommended to encourage bushy growth. Curry Leaf Plant can be grown both indoors and outdoors, making it a popular choice for kitchen gardens, balconies, or small backyard spaces.
