Description
Silver Ragwort, commonly known as Dusty Miller, is a hardy perennial plant prized for its stunning silvery-white foliage. Native to the Mediterranean region, this plant is often used for ornamental purposes in gardens and landscapes. The leaves are deeply lobed and have a soft, velvety texture, creating a striking contrast with other green-leaved plants.
Although it rarely flowers, when it does, Dusty Miller produces small yellow flowers, typically in the summer. However, the main attraction of this plant remains its foliage, which adds a beautiful texture and color contrast to flower beds, borders, and containers. This plant thrives in full sunlight and well-drained soil, making it perfect for xeriscaping or low-water gardens.
Dusty Miller is drought-tolerant, easy to care for, and often used in mixed garden beds, particularly as a backdrop for brightly colored flowering plants. It can also be grown as an annual in cooler climates but will thrive year-round in warm climates.
