Description
The Foxtail Fern (Asparagus densiflorus ‘Myersii’), named for its bushy, tail-like fronds, is a unique and attractive perennial. Its arching stems are densely packed with needle-like leaves, creating a soft, fluffy appearance. Native to South Africa, the Foxtail Fern is a drought-tolerant plant that thrives in both indoor and outdoor settings. It works well as a ground cover or a container plant and is often used in landscaping for its sculptural form.
This fern can produce small white flowers followed by bright red berries, adding another layer of interest to its already unique look. The Foxtail Fern prefers bright, indirect sunlight and well-drained soil. It’s relatively low-maintenance, requiring only occasional watering, and can tolerate short dry spells. However, its sap can be mildly toxic to pets and humans if ingested, so caution is needed when grown around animals.
