Description
Variegated Ficus benjamina, a striking variation of the classic Weeping Fig or Benjamin Fig, is loved for its beautiful green and cream-white foliage. The variegated version has irregular patches of white or light yellow on its leaves, giving it a unique, decorative appearance. This makes it an excellent choice for indoor decor, adding elegance to homes, offices, or gardens. Like the regular Ficus benjamina, the variegated variety has drooping branches and slender leaves that give it a graceful, weeping appearance.
This plant thrives in bright, indirect sunlight and prefers well-drained soil. It can tolerate partial shade but needs sufficient light to maintain the variegation on its leaves. Regular watering is important, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Pruning helps keep its size in check, and it responds well to shaping. The variegated Ficus benjamina is known for its air-purifying properties, making it a popular choice for improving indoor air quality.
Although beautiful, it is mildly toxic to pets if ingested. It also tends to drop leaves if exposed to stress or moved suddenly.
